Brother John — Average (Part 1): Numerator Buy it at Amazon
Towson, Maryland’s The Beechfields Record Label were kind enough to shoot me over a copy of the new Brother John album. Deep in scope and rich in atmosphere, “Average” is anything but its namesake. Abbreviated rhythms, soaring synths, and thick ambient bass lines are but a few of the pieces to Brother John’s master jigsaw puzzle. Harmonies follow down through a maze of keyboard rhythms and heavenly ambience. In addition he explores electro pop ala New Order and French house much like Air. This may just be one of those special electronic albums that will satisfy the needs of both the underground and the mainstream casual clubber. Peep it out asap!
