Chiodos
Perhaps no one can explain the sheer ferocity and timid quietness it is better than when vocalist Craig Owens says “we don’t want to let the kids down” when discussing the group’s intense vocals live at shows. Well they never let a single kid down with their vicious assault on the ears and grip on the jugular...

Vue — Babies are for Petting EP Buy it at Amazon
Wow, how disappointing. Vue have been heralded as the next breakthrough garage band, yet if Babies Are for Petting is indicative of their musical talents, these five musicians aren`t breaking the surface, breaking the mold or breaking the bank. In fact, Vue seem to have taken notes when listening to The Strokes album, which is sad in so many ways. There are occasional glimpses of the Rolling Stones, and Vue saturate this EP with a fun-loving surf-rock mentality, yet continuously fail to create anything mildly interesting here. It`s an honest fact that the new revolution of garage rock isn`t astoundingly insightful, yet Vue never even muster the strength to try and stand out from the pack. The album`s title track is an interesting selection, as Jessica Graves keyboard sound effects add a playful arcade aura and Rex Shelverton infuses his snotty vocals with a bit of punk attitude, yet even here they don`t truly leave an impression. In fact, Graves is arguably the best facet to this flawed diamond, as her interesting keyboard melodies give the album it`s only sign of life. The White Stripes do this experimental artsy style much better, and as a straight up rock act Vue have no legs to stand on. "It Won`t Last" is undoubtedly the album`s best offering, and it`s sardonic tone is hilarious as the band themselves seem to understand their chance for fame is fleeting, and Rafael Orlin`s plodding drums carry a sound of impending doom. Those who have an affinity for everything retro will surely buy into Vue`s nostalgic atmosphere, yet if you`re outside the bubble there is nothing on Babies Are for Petting that would make you take notice.
