Dan Fishback — Sweet Chastity Buy it at Amazon
I’ve reviewed his band, Cheese on Bread, before and loved their incredible use of lo-fi folk sounds. Dan Fishback is here doing the solo thing with raunchy rock-n-roll blended with anti-folk. Cleverly named after the Broadway musical “Sweet Charity”, the album’s theme is a gay man’s exploration of pop music, emotions, and satire all with hilarious results. Songs like “G.I. Joe Song”, “The News Today” and “Racist” do explore slightly more serious issues underneath a bevy of irony and tongue-in-cheek satire. His vocals are great and high-pitched but it’s his lyrical wit and charming song arrangements that make this album so essential.
