Dimbulb — Trip Hammers Buy it at Amazon
If I could choose to be on any record label, one of my first choices would probably be Cock of the Rock, and not just because of the name but because I could probably tour with some of their great acts on their roster. One such band would be Dimbulb (though they’d have to be coaxed out of retirement once again like back in ’97 when they played a few select dates only to call it quits again), a psychedelic stoner rock band whose hilarity is so tongue-in-cheek that they choose the moniker, which describes their sound even. Yes this is music that our less intelligent folks would love—but that’s not a knock on the band OR their songs. In fact there’s a genuine genius residing deep within their stoner rock choruses and blatantly sneering vocals on “Trip Hammers”, which was originally released in ’95 by Anti-Music Records. The fact is that since this release, a ton of bands, like Queens of Stone Age have been using the Dimbulb formula, trying to recreate the genius of the true stoner rock outfit complete with sludge and nasty scars from original Black Sabbath shows.
