Miscreants — Welcome the Buy it at Amazon
Known as the Architect, Miscreants are a thrash metal, death metal, and hardcore hybrid outfit based in the Netherlands. Featuring former Shai Hulud vocalist Geert van der Velde as their frontman, Miscreants rip devastating metal opuses that are perfectly captured in their rawest form by Nico van Montfort, an up-and-coming engineer/producer from Holland. Vocally it sounds similar to ass-kicking hardcore (complete with some of the darkest lyrics you’ll ever hear) but the guitars are more anthem-inducing ala the Haunted so there’s a certain Swedish metal aspect in there. As far as a debut goes, I can’t think of anything this year that’s more eye-popping. But when this quick six-song EP ends, you thirst for more and find yourself reaching for that repeat button real damn quick.
