Michael Martinez is proud to present An Evening of Music and Comedy at Don't Tell Mama. This showcase and variety show will feature Jane Hunt (Violin Venus), singer Ashleigh Lay, pianist / songwriter Lenny Revell, and singer/songwriter John Virag. Producer Michael Martinez has previously presented showcases at Don't Tell Mama and several other New York City clubs. These showcases highlight emerging stars in comedy, music, and musical theater. Showtime is 6:30 pm, door opens at 6:00pm. Admission is $10.00, plus a two drink minimum. For reservations call Don't Tell Mama at 212-757-0788.
Jane Hunt (www.violinvenus.com) - Since graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music in england in 2005, Jane Hunt has performed as a soloist at venues across the world including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Paramount Theatre, Spivey Hall, Sir Elton John's Lifeball, and The Cannes Film Festival. As a recording artist she has recorded at George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch in California for the Allegro Label as well as at Sirius Radio Studios and Avatar Studios in New York City. The Violin Venus Show combines the beauty and refinement of classical music with the energy of folk and jazz. The concept for the music was created by Jane Hunt and the show has tours booked across the country for the 2008/09 season.
Ashleigh Lay ( www.ashleighlay.com) -Past shows include the Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, The Spickner Spin, Parade, Tikki Tikki Tembo, On The Twentieth Century, Twelfth Night, The Children's Hour, Grease, Godspell, and Once Upon a Mattress. Ashleigh is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and a founding member of Tip My Cup Productions, a non-profit theatre company dedicated to the creation of original works.
Lenny Revell (www.myspace.com/lennyrevellband) Incorporating the piano as the forefront instrument that swims in a sea of rock, pop, and soul, Lenny Revell's a modern-day torch-bearer for the personas of Elton John and Billy Joel. His accomplishments have been well noted in outlets such as Keyboard Magazine, Teen Ink Magazine, Rochesterathome.com, The Buffalo News, and ArtVoice. His extensive travels have brought him recognition in many cities such as New York City, Buffalo, Los Angeles, Nashville, Branson, Miami, Coral Springs, Toronto, and more. He carries on the tradition of timeless, catchy melodies packaged in everyday lessons reflecting human nature.
John Virag ( www.johnvirag.com) is a music recording artist and an actor.He has released two CD's entitled "Dream Reality" and "Evidence Pending" under his own label, Sea King Productions, and is currently recording his third. He has a Master's Degree in Jazz Composition from NYU, where he participated in the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and played with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and Jim McNeely. On the acting front, John is a member of The Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and has worked in television, film, commercials, theatre, and print. His credits include Law & Order, Hope & Faith, and 30 Rock.
