CLear Channel Music Digs Singer Tony Adamo
Clear Channel Digs Tony Adamo
Press Release by UrbanZone Productions
Franki LaMantia, San Francisco, CA

Singer/songwriter, Tony Adamo’s song, “No Strings” from his STRAIGHT UP DEAL release on UrbanZone Records has recently been added to clearchannelmusic.com music site. Clear Channel Communications is the largest owner of full power AM/FM radio stations in the United States. Clear Channel has made “No Strings,” (produced by Jerry Stucker) available to its radio programmers across the U.S. Adamo’s funky groove music is getting outstanding radio airplay and reviews from all over the world.

Stuart Hamilton of Amazon.co.uk wrote, “The first thing that leaps out at you is Adamo’s voice. Imagine if you can, it’s like Rou Rawls fronting Tower of Power.” With this being said, the unique funky sound on “No Strings” was locked in by Mic Gillette, a Tower of Power band member for more than nineteen years. Mic’s stellar horn arrangement (utilizing the horn section of past and present members of TOP including Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka and Skip Mesquite), is pure smooth groove that sets up the dynamic blending between Adamo’s voice and the rhythm section. Edward Blanco of Ejazznews.com wrote “STRAIGHT UP DEAL reveals the vocal talents of a superior singer.” Sandy Shore of Smoothjazz.com gave STRAIGHT UP DEAL a rating of 5 Stars and said, “Think of Adamo as Lou Reed but - funkified.”

Lenny Revell @ The Paramount Hotel in NYC
SINGER/SONGWRITER & ROCK PIANIST
LENNY REVELL

@ The Paramount Hotel
235 West 46th Street in NYC

Sunday April 27 @ 7:00pm

www.myspace.com/lennyrevellband

A rising star of the New York City music scene, Lenny Revell bring his critically acclaimed songs and music to The Paramount Hotel in NYC. This is a great opportunity to see a brilliant young composer up close and personal. Jeff Miers of The Buffalo News called Lenny " a modern-day Elton John." Showtime is 7:00 pm and admission is $5.00. Please go to Lenny Revell's website for updates and added shows.

Incorporating the piano as the forefront instrument that swims in a sea of rock, pop, and soul, Lenny Revell's a modern-day torch-bearer for the personas of Elton John and Billy Joel. His accomplishments have been well noted in outlets such as Keyboard Magazine, Teen Ink Magazine, Rochesterathome.com, The Buffalo News, and ArtVoice. His extensive travels have brought him recognition in many cities such as New York City, Buffalo, Los Angeles, Nashville, Branson, Miami, Coral Springs, Toronto, and more. He carries on the tradition of timeless, catchy melodies packaged in everyday lessons reflecting human nature.

Lenny Revell's album "Lessons" introduces the world to a Eurasian’s vision of eastern philosophy mixed into the format of a modern pop/rock sound. Each song is a "lesson", explaining how mankind can better himself through the process of self examination, in a world fueled by superficiality and limited mindsets. The CD empowers the listener to take personal responsibility for their own thoughts and actions, bringing about timeless staples of idealism in an ever changing society. Mixed in with these self-help melodies is the dark humor employed in songs like Ghost or Prelude/Revenge of Little Red Riding Hood that's a throwback from the golden age of the 20th century layered with a contemporary feel.

Universal Republic presents Between The Trees "The Story And The Song" available now

Between the Trees is Ryan Kirkland: guitar/lead vocals, Brad Kriebel: guitar/vocals, Wes Anderson: keyboards/percussion, Jeremy Butler: bass and Josh Butler: drums

The mission of Between the Trees lies in plain view. It’s not just in the music, though their sound is a wonder: hard-hitting, ambitious, accessible, riddled with unforgettable hooks that course through a sonic landscape of open vistas, quiet private spaces and sun-drenched, slamming beats. Certainly there’s much to appreciate in their words, from celebrations of love (“White Lines & Red Lights”) to meditations on despair (“The Way She Feels” & “A Time for Yohe”). But an even greater truth stands Between the Trees … literally. It’s in the name itself – specifically, in the space staked out by its suggestion of beginning and end. “One tree represents where time and existence begins,” ventures lead singer Ryan Kirkland. “The other is the end of everything. Between them is the time we’re given on Earth. What matters is what we do with that time.”
You can’t get simpler – or more profound – than that. And it’s not only the starting point for what you hear from these five guys. It’s also the creed that’s driven them to accomplish something extraordinary. To appreciate this, as you spin The Story and The Song, remember this: Just three years ago, as the group was coming together, some of its members hadn’t even begun to master their instruments. “Playing well wasn’t what drew us to each other,” Ryan explains. “We figured that we would become good at what we did with time, and we didn’t worry about how long that would take. What was always most important to us was our personal connections to each other. With that, we knew that we’d be able to do whatever we needed to do.”
The independent release under Manager David McKenna’s Bonded Records that landed on three Billboard charts in first week without true distribution … the subsequent distribution deal with Universal Fontana that allowed the band to sell thousands more records without a major label … the recent joint venture of Bonded with Universal Motown making BTT the first “upstream” from a Universal indie to a Universal major … the two sold-out tours through the entire UK… the confirmation for the entire 2008 Warped Tour… the fans whose MySpace and website posts testify to their trust, loyalty and love …
None of these witnesses to this band’s rise might have believed, at one time, that anyone could climb so far, so quickly. Yet now, knowing Between the Trees, you could say that doing anything less would have been more of a surprise. Their story – and their songs – trace back to the friendship that grew between Ryan and Josh some seven years ago. Ryan had been playing guitar for about a year; Josh announced that he was a drummer. “So,” Ryan says, laughing, “someone who was not a great guitarist and someone who lied about playing drums started this band.”
Josh’s brother Jeremy soon wanted to come onboard; though he’d never played bass, he picked up the basics from Ryan. They worked as a trio for a while, morphed into an acoustic act, and then ran into Wes Anderson; he was recruited to play keyboards, though his previous experience was his high school drumcore. Maybe seven months later, willing to try anything once, they added an actual experienced musician, Brad Kriebel, who had been playing guitar with hardcore bands around Orlando for a few years. Thus the stage was set and, early in 2005, Between the Trees began its adventures.
Their first steps were small. With most of them still in high school, they concentrated on local gigs: parties, church events and downtown clubs like the Social. After securing management, the plan was set forth to make their own full-length album. Manager McKenna formed Bonded Records for the purpose of this release and booked them with producer Pete Thornton (Shinedown, Paramore, Day of Fire). For six weeks, before tape rolled, they locked themselves into an intense pre-production regimen. The plan was to get their material ready to record; the result was that plus maybe five new songs that rocked as hard and spoke as truthfully as everything they’d already written.
“It was super-stressful,” Ryan admits. “We usually write from experience, and it was hard to just sit in a room and pound out our ideas; that wasn’t much of an experience at all. So we left the studio and went out into the neighborhood, into this nearby park area, almost like children. Kids can escape easily from the mundane, day-to-day routine; it’s not so easy for us to get away and find ourselves again in that way. But we learned that again by going out into the forest, getting dirty and remembering why we do what we do. It was totally inspirational.”
That spirit drives The Story and The Song. “The Forward” opens the album like a rocket; “You Cry a Tear to Start a River” brings it back, its good-time, sing-along beat cushioning a gentle descent into the shelter offered by hope. Everything in the middle – between these trees of liftoff and coming home – sums up what Between the Trees is about.
Now that the record is in the hands of Universal Motown, the world is the oyster for this young band. This acclaimed album is being re-released with fresh mixes from Mark Endert (Maroon 5, Madonna, Gavin Degraw); these songs are sure to be gracing the airwaves, big screen, and small screen in the very near future. The world is about to learn that the meaning of Between the Trees involves more than music; it’s the beginning of comfort and joy, wisdom and celebration. This is a band not to be taken lightly and never to be forgotten, whose secrets and pleasures are there for all to enjoy … between the trees.

Latest highlights from the Babelgum Online Film Festival - Vote Now!
Vote for your favorite Babelgum Online Film Festival video entry now! Babelgum, the new interactive web TV portal, is proud to announce its first Babelgum Online Film Festival judged by director Spike Lee and a professional panel!!

Babelgum Official Site:

Hurry Hurry Hurry!!
Still time to Vote!!

Best post wins an all expenses paid trip to meet Spike Lee at next month’s Cannes Film Festival and a ticket to the first BOFF Awards Ceremony

BABELGUM ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL/News Update

Top rated films this week are from Italy, France, Norway and the USA

London, 22nd.April 2008 – Voting fever reigns at the first Babelgum Online Film Festival (BOFF) on Babelgum, the new interactive web TV portal. Over a thousand entries from 86 countries are available to anyone with broadband, reaching a potential global audience of 360 million.

The Babelgum Online Film Festival is the first of its kind, and provides a unique distribution opportunity for the newest filmmaking talent. A number of entries have been created specifically for the festival, proving that it is also generating new and original content.

Top Films of the week April 14/20: Get a grip on your life…..and enjoy!! That seems to be the message from this week’s most popular films in the Babelgum Online Film Festival, the first BOFF. We can allow ourselves a little more pleasure, be brave in the face of adversity, move onwards and upwards even after we’ve been rejected and have faith. We can make a difference too – either by crossing a border on a rocket or, on a serious note, looking for alternatives to oil. Sure, we can take it too far, but as the top of the music category shows, true friends will always forgive us our excesses.

Animation - ITALY
Clito - This excellent piece of Italian cheekiness needs a little warning before you watch. First, make sure your mother isn’t standing behind you. Or your boss. Clear? Now, you’re ready to enjoy a hilarious and possibly educational film about the life and love life of our nether regions.

Documentary - ITALY
GREATER – Defeating Aids – This film pulls together various stories about a group of Ugandan women who are HIV positive, but this is anything but a mainstream piece of work. Inspiring characters, full of zest for life, tell us their stories, and show us their dances.

Looking for Genius - USA
Jilted – The Puppini Sisters – In this sumptuous 5 minute film (a budget of $4000? Impossible no?) we are told a story about a woman who’s been dumped and takes her revenge on all the men who have ever left her. Duel by Popcorn is just one of the original ideas here but the message is an old one: hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Be warned.
Music - NORWAY
Sondre Lerche – this is quirky and fun, just what you expect from the Norwegian music scene, but here we have a snappy tune and an engaging video to boot. Sondre Lerche is the singer who manages to control the camera with his hands but the power goes to his head and he doesn’t want to share the limelight with his band. They turn into a horse-headed gang who chase him but it all works out fine in the end. Scandinavian diplomacy in action.
Short Film - USA
Officer Down – Holding on to first place in this category, this is a compelling story about a bad cop turned good, or about faith working miracles. This film just keeps on scoring highly with Babelgum audiences – it’s a praise fest. Strong writing, acting and direction.
Social/Environment - ITALY
Fill – A man fills up his car at a lonely petrol station and is haunted by the voices and sounds of all the suffering caused in the name of oil. A single drop of blood drips as he replaces the pump. This one appealed to Italian BOFFers in particular but anyone on this planet will appreciate its simplicity in conveying an important message.
Spot/Advertising - FRANCE
The Pocket Crossborder – An ad for the quickest and easiest way of crossing a border – be a human cannonball. Only don’t try this at home or on a border you can legitimately get across because helmet and armour are not included, ok? This film rocketed in the Babelgum audience’s views – no less than Charlie Kaufman wrote a post and George Lucas commented “may the force be with you”. Who said Babelgum doesn’t have friends among Hollywood’s royalty!

The Categories:
• The Babelgum Short Film Award
• The Babelgum Looking For Genius Award
• The Babelgum Animation Award
• The Babelgum Music Video Award
• The Babelgum Social / Environment Award
• The Babelgum Spot / Advertising Award
• The Babelgum Documentary Award

The Judging Process:
• Babelgum users are now voting in their thousands and having their say on who will become the next big filmmaking talent. A shortlist of films will be reached through a combination of factors: users’ votes, the amount of times a film is viewed, the amount of posts and comments and the number of times a film is linked

• The shortlist will then be judged by the BOFF Jury, led by renowned director Spike Lee. The other jurors consist of film experts from across the globe, including the directors of established film festivals, film schools and film industry associations:

spatial nature of sound and electronic music's
aesthetics. Good as a background, to help to
facilitate meditation and falling asleep.

Call It Arson's "Moth Wash" streaming on AbsolutePunk.net
Moth Wash, the latest release from New Haven, Connecticut's Call It Arson is currently streaming at Absolutepunk.net. You can listen to both songs from the upcoming 7-inch here.

Additionally, Kill Normal Records is now offering the vinyl for pre-order. Go here to get yours.

Limited to 500 and pressed on black and yellow / white vinyl, the label will be shipping the 7-inches at the end of April. The album's official release date is May 20th. Also, all orders will include free high-quality mp3's.

Undoubtedly two of the best songs that the band has committed to tape, Call It Arson evokes contemporaries such as Chamberlain, Karate and Waxwing. Their sound ranges from a deep, slow burn to sustained explosions of energy and aggression. Any way you slice it, the Connecticut four piece always manages to come across as unquestionably earnest, heartfelt and compelling.

Moth Wash was recorded at God City Studios with Kurt Ballou (Converge). And for all you audiophiles, both songs were analog recorded, mixed and mastered, and then pressed directly to vinyl.

TOM SWIRLY's PSYCH-O-DELIC CIRCUS in NYC
TOM SWIRLY's
PSYCH-O-DELIC CIRCUS

A microRave!

Every Monday Night at Cave Canem
24 First Ave @ 8pm
Admission $5.00

www.myspace.com/TomSwirly

New York,NY- ( March 21,2008) Turn on the microRave! Tom Swirly's Psych-o-delic Circus is live with avant-garde music, dance, and performance in New York's East Village, every Monday night.

The Circus begins in the dark. Tom Swirly takes the stage, tattered lab coat trailing, coaxing slow the music is foreboding and disorienting. The lights start to flash and glow, Jeremy Weirdos joins in and triggers samples from the Three Stooges. Then the powerful voice of Tom Swirly's Electro-Acoustical Wind Instrument hammers out a driving beat; he grabs a loop, sings over it with layers of angelic and demonic voices. This is the dancers' cue: they emerge from the corners, slowly feeling for the rhythm, getting more wired till they climb all over the stage. More acts; some noisy, some beautiful, some energetic. The dancers adapt, gain strength, form arabesques. The lights rise to a climax: a strobe! the audience goes wild. The show continues till one of the trans-sexual bartenders throws us out late-night.

The Psych-o-delic Circus has been going since the fall of 2007 and showcases its residents, including: beatboxing pioneer and hiphop legend Kid Lucky, the Illusionary Dancers, and Welsh guitar wizard Dan Jones.

Special guests have included: Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers, Tristan Perich's One-bit Music, Joshua Fried's Radio Wonderland, and The Tom Blatt Project.

Tom Swirly has been playing the electronic wind instrument for almost twenty years. He's played all over the world, including an hour-long show on Sydney's Bondi Radio, a performance at the 2004 Dutch Electronic Arts Festival, a recent show at the KEK Gallery in Budapest and of course countless performances all over the New York City area. He's written music for theatre, dance and video performances. As a long-time member of the avant-garde performance group Verge, he's participated in all of their major productions, including "Return to Oz" and "The Space Show".

He's also an accomplished actor and magician, having performed with various New York-area companies including Faux-Real Theatre Company, where he had the title role in their first production of "William Shakespeare's Haunted House" (which went on to almost ten years in repertory), and Gorilla Rep (where he performed numerous comic roles as part of their production of Henry IV parts I and II). In 2007, a play about his life was written by New York's Youngblood Playwright's group and had an extended run in Brooklyn's Brick Theatre; this led to a controversial and allegedly inaccurate New York Times article about Mr. Swirly, complete with color photo. His photographs have appeared all over the net and in Time Out New York; his extreme NY mailing list has been a staple of the New York underground scene for over 8 years; and he's a familiar figure at parties and events all over the city.

Professionally, Mr Swirly has earned a living writing computer programs since the last 70s. In 1987, he was sitting at a trading desk in the late lamented Drexel Burnham Lambert writing option models during the century's largest drop in the Dow Jones. In 1988 he wrote he operating system for an innovative but failed pocket computer. Snce 2004, Mr Swirly has been an engineer with Google in New York City.

Jeremy X. Halpern (Jeremy Weirdos) is the Ringleader of the Psych-o-delic Circus. He founded the multimedia performance group Verge in 1987; they will be performing their 20th Anniversary concert this summer. As the sole proprietor of 1-800-Weirdos (http://www.weirdos.com) he creates music from the random callers to the 800 number, as well as maintaining an Internet radio station and Weirdos podcast, which is available free through the iTunes Music Store. As an actor he has performed on stage and in films and video including acclaimed Iranian director Amir Naderi's "Sound Barrier". As a director he has masterminded such bizarre epics as "Speak of the Devil (A Satanic Cabaret)" and "Battle of the Dead Celebs". As a composer, he has invented soundtracks for Verge as well as having scored many short films. As a Weirdo, he is proud to represent all the freaks out there. Stamp out normality in our lifetime!

Press reservations or interview inquiries with Tom Swirly or Jeremy X. Halpern, please call Michael Martinez at 212-712-7362.

Promotional performance DVD's avaialble upon request.

Dendura Joins Unexpect and Shadowside at the Flight of the Valkyries Festival
Dendura (USA), the Egyptian-inspired, female-fronted progressive band with belly dancers, will join co-headliners Unexpect (Canada) and Shadowside (Brazil) for the second-annual Flight of the Valkyries festival at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN, on Saturday June 28. Flight of the Valkyries is the only festival in the USA to feature a complete lineup of female-fronted metal bands.

Belly dancer Abida Blaze, who is known for her exotic, mysterious moves, will join Dendura onstage at the festival.

This year, the festival headliners bring a big dose of metal from Canada and Brazil. Unexpect recently toured with Epica, Echoes of Eternity and Trail of Tears. Shadowside is a rising star in the Brazilian metal scene.

Minnesota-based artists Something to Fear and Aria Sharp have also been announced and additional bands will be confirmed in the coming months.

Flight of the Valkyries is the only music festival of its kind in the USA that is devoted to metal bands with female lead vocalists. The festival showcases all metal sub-genres. The festival debuted in 2007 and showcased a variety of female-fronted metal bands including Doro, Vainglory, Earthen, The Ottoman Empire, Visideon, Spiritual Decay and Sirens of Titan.

Meanwhile, 2008 is already turning into a big year for Dendura. The band recently signed with KillZone Records, scored distribution with Nightmare Records and they’re discussing their next album with a Grammy-winning producer. In addition, they played high-profile concerts including a show with Edguy (Who did some 2007 dates in Germany with Aerosmith) and they have a track on the US ProgPower 2007 compilation given to everyone who attended the sold-out, national festival in Atlanta starring After Forever and Sonata Arctica.

For more information about Dendura, and to listen to songs, visit www.myspace.com/denduraband. For ticket information and details about Flight of the Valkyries, visit www.femalemetalfest.com.
