Interviews: Pissing Razors
Smother - How long have you been together?
Pissing Razors - About three and a half years.
Smother - Has the lineup always been the same?
Rick - The band was started as a side project where we would all switch instruments.
Eddie - We had to replace the singer Loco Pelon with Joe and my brother who was originally in the band couldn't tour so we had to make some choices. That's when we got Rick and I went to drums.
Smother - Where did you come up with the name Pissing Razors?
Eddie - A friend of ours caught the clap and said it felt like he was pissing razors. We liked it so that's what we became.

Smother - How does it feel to be on a label with Kreator?
Joe - I've only listened to a few of their stuff. I'm the only one that's heard them and is into that kind of music.
Smother - What have been your influences both musically and worldly?
Eddie - Musically we come from different backgrounds. Like country and disco and Spanish.
Joe - I listen to weird shit. I grew up around Randy Rhoads.
Rick - I grew up in Mexico.
Smother - What do you think of Ozzfest this year?
Eddie - I think it would be great if we could play it. We actually looked into it but it costs $45,000 to play.
Smother - Shit, are you serious? You have to pay to play?
Eddie - Yeah obviously we couldn't afford it. We were pretty surprised too.
Smother - If you were in an airplane and had to jump out and only could take one cd with you, what would it be?
Rick - Machinehead, but I'd probably grab two and get the Eagles Greatest Hits.
Joe - Kiss's Alive II and also I'd grab Ozzy's Dire of a Madman.
Eddie - AC/DC's Black and Black.

Smother - What's the craziest thing that has ever happened at a Pissing Razors show? (everyone looks around at each other nervously and reply in unison)
Pissing Razors - Plead the 5th. No comment. Unprintable.
Smother - So how do you like touring with Pro Pain thus far?
Eddie - There's great laughs, fun, and drunken games. They're really down to earth guys. They're great.
Smother - Who's your dream band to play with?
Rick - Ozzy.
Joe - Kiss.
Eddie - AC/DC.
Matt - King Diamond.
Smother - What's your least favorite interview question?
Matt - About the name which is probably the most asked question.
Smother - Please describe your sound for those of our Smothered readers that haven't heard you?
Matt - That's another one of those hated questions.
Smother - Sorry man.
Matt - No, it's all right. No, we've been described as everything from crossover to death metal to heavy disco. I prefer heavy metal with heavy ass groove. Actually, it's funny one of our songs is actually very very similar to the Hawaii Five O theme. [ I won't tell which one though that's for you guys to find out. ]
Smother - What would you do if you met a guy named Carbomb?
Rick - Ever been to Oklahoma?
Smother - Do you ever get completely disgusted with the music industry?
Eddie - The industry pretty much sucks. I like our scene which is underground but there could always be more publicity for us.
Smother - What do you think of the metal scene?
Joe - It's coming back.
Smother - Is touring hard on your life in many different aspects?
Joe - My wife and I had a baby while I was in Europe. There's lots of sacrifices. But I got to give props to our women who stick through it.
Rick - I think it's definitely hard on all of us.
Smother - So what do you think of your label? Do you like what it's done for you or do you wish F.A.D. Records would do more?
Eddie - I didn't want to be part of a major label. Besides with our name most majors weren't even interested. We like to build a following by touring. The label is kind of small but they're definitely not hurting us.
Joe - This wasn't over night. I feel really fortunate for everything we have. Now we're eating at least twice a day.
Smother - Provide some closing statements.
Pissing Razors - I like the muppets. Watch out. Write your own things.
