teramelos

Tera Melos is one of those amazing experimental bands that you can try to describe and just fall flat. They do pretty much everything that you could possibly imagine that’s awesome and do it damn well. Toss in ambient, weird time signatures (that actually work and don’t sound contrived), a bevy of effects/samples, and all of this from one a trio of dudes from California. Stunning. Shine it up and crank up the speakers. Oh and check them out live with seminal experimental maestros Melt-Banana on the West Coast…

Dec 11 – Chop Suey – Seattle, WA – Seattle Stranger Show Pick
Dec 12 – Dante’s – Portland, OR
Dec 14 – Blue Lamp – Sacramento, CA

stationary-odyssey-picture

Post-rock-punk-ambient-prog-grind-rockers Stationary Odyssey have today released a FREE digital EP titled “Johnfriend”. This digital EP is an accompaniment to the 8-track mini-opus ‘Sons of Boy’ – which will be released worldwide November 10, 2009 on Joyful Noise Recordings.

The “Mud Center” Indiana-based duo of Aaron Tanner and Brett Siler released their previous full-length “Head! Foot! And The Pink Axe” on Joyful Noise back in 2006. One split with Child Bite later, they have resurfaced with the more polarized “Sons Of Boy”. Featuring a host of guest musicians such as Chris Schlarb (Asthmatic Kitty, I Heart Lung), Shawn Knight (Child Bite), and Aaron Tanner’s seven-year-old son – the Stationary Odyssey boys have created an 8-track mini-opus of face-melting moments alongside crystalline spasms of beauty.

With the Johnfriend EP we get a glimpse into the new Odyssey album wrapped in feedback-laden amusement. The EP contains a new track from the album, a feedback-laden cover of T-Rex’s “Children of the Revolution”, a remix, and an A Capella demo.

Download the entire EP here.

Sleep Bellum Sonno have returned with a new line-up and an incredible sophomore record that pushes the band into exciting new directions. Judge Us By How We Lived Our Lives Not By How We Made Our Living is available now on 12″ vinyl (500 black). The LP package includes a CD version of the album as well.

Judge Us By How We Lived Our Lives… is an unforgiving piece that props up the dying art form that is the album. While other bands are busy writing songs, Sleep Bellum Sonno have composed an ambitious, conceptual record that not only stretches the limits of the artist, but of the listener as well.

Recorded live, the album tells the tale of twelve characters who all intertwine into one larger story of a husband / father leaving his wife and two sons behind. To say that Judge Us… is a challenging listen might be an understatement. But for those willing to indulge themselves, the riches buried within are plenty. Art imitates life and life is unforgiving. Still, no matter what choices are made there is always hope for redemption.

Hello!

My name is Daniel, and I’m the singer/guitarist in the Athens, GA band Venice is Sinking.  We’ve got a new EP coming out called “Okay”.  Actually, it’s more of a maxi-single for the song “Okay”, which appeared on our last album, AZAR.  On the EP are two alternate versions of AZAR tracks “Ryan’s Song” and (ahem) “Okay”.  We also included two covers of the San Francisco band Okay we recorded with Jason NeSmith of Casper & the Cookies: “Compass” and “Give Up”.

Man, it’s hard to explain thias one.  That’s a lot of “Okay’s”!

Here is a free MP3 of one of the Okay covers we did, “Compass”: http://tinyurl.com/viscompass We think that we did the song justice.  We’re big fans of Marty Anderson of Okay, and we wanted to honor his wonderful songwriting.

Three new tracks from Biclops (ex-Postman Syndrome / Day Without Dawn), from their summer 2008 4-song demo, have just been uploaded to their website. The band is putting the finishing touches on their debut record, which will be released sometime in 2009. The group has not signed with any label as of yet. Look for the group to play some local shows and small tours while a longer tour should take place this winter.
