Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Pistolita

Pistolita
Piano pop and indie pop thrillers Pistolita have only been together since 2003. While still a relatively young band they boast a mature sound that is rich in melodies and devastatingly original. Like a breath of fresh air, Pistolita swings in with one jangled catchy pop hook after another. Their piano player and vocalist Conor Meads took a job writing television jingles and started work on composing their EP and what would become "Oliver Over the Moon". The resulting album is a breathtaking work of pop art that shrugs off the typical boring asides that indie pop has undertaken these days for something much more clever. The band is beginning to create waves in the music community to rave reviews from underground 'zines and is sure to conquer the mainstream next. Indie rock's answer to Keane? I'd like to think so.
