Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Chiodos

Chiodos
Perhaps no one can explain the sheer ferocity and timid quietness it is better than when vocalist Craig Owens says “we don’t want to let the kids down” when discussing the group’s intense vocals live at shows. Well they never let a single kid down with their vicious assault on the ears and grip on the jugular throughout their many storied albums to date. Signing with Equal Vision and shortening their name from “The Chiodos Bros.”, Chiodos is a group that formed in high school in their native Flint, MI. As steely cold as that automaker industry town as is, nothing is perhaps more frigid than the icy grasp of a wicked guitar riff from Chiodos. The best thing is their balancing act between downright fierce and menacing with calm, atmospheric and floating anthems. Their approach to songwriting continue to mature as they now have released several solid albums. Their live show is completely intense and will no doubt gain the group even more rabid fans.
