Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Allister

Chicago may have the next World Series team in the White Sox but they also can lay claim to having the savior of pop-punk in Allister. Pop-punk is often saturated in reguritated hooks, silly clothes, eyeliner, and lame angsty lyrics—Allister is the polar opposite. Their songs are ridiculously catchy, well written, and they're armed with an entertaining live show that is the stuff of legends. Their latest album finds the band within sight of the zenith of pop-punk. For those old school fans of Green Day (you know before they became a mega-blockbuster pop-rock stadium band), Allister is the perfect relief from the lackluster output of candy-coated mall punk.
