Marduk

There are certain names which are legendary and evoke reverence among the legions of psychotic Black Metal fans — not the least of which is Sweden's Marduk. Though their name comes from a mythical creature that saved the human race, these sick Swedes seem intent on crafting sounds that could melt mankind into nonexistence. Marduk were formed in 1990 with the intent of creating the most intense and blasphemous music to date. Mission accomplished. Amid the overbearing Death Metal scene in Sweden, music lovers found something new and extreme in Marduk's music and attitude. Marduk have since endured all of the perfunctory personnel and label shake-ups of any good Black Metal band to leave a trail of monumental devastation and one of the genre's most impressive discographies. Few bands in the history of Metal can compare to Marduk's might and there is little chance their crown will be in danger this century.
