Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Leah Callahan

Leah Callahan's vocals can be described instantly as stirring, haunting, and even hallucinating. The music that occupies the space surrounding her voice conjures up images of turn-of-the-century pop music with a fresh twist. Not paying attention to what every other musician out there is doing right now can be both uniquely successful or vainfully disappointing but Leah Callahan's "Even Sleepers" is hardly the latter.
Instead these are tunes optimized for your ears blending together as one '20's pop, polka, punk rock, new wave, and avant garde funk rock. Her voice transforms her siren-like into this she-devil temptress that will seductively call out wishing you to hang on to her every words. And regardless of what background or style is your flavor you will.
