Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Since By Man

The hardcore community in the U.S. has seen itself turn into a mere shell of what it once was, evolving from a tight-knit scene of unity into a jealous, fashionable outlet where bands are quick to stab one another in the back to get ahead of the game. From the shambles of this community a new force has risen, crawling from beneath the West Coast underground to help pioneer a new realm of hardcore. This group is Since By Man, and their visionary debut, We Sing the Body Electric, is one of the few albums in the past five years to truly leave an impression. This is heartfelt hardcore that cares little about image or style, and is only out to prove one thing: what has become must be undone. Mixing the abstract tenacity of Refused with the punk attitude of Amen, these men are what we all could hope the future of hardcore will be, and as of such Smother welcomes in this new breed of ballistic hardcore intensity with a well-deserved spot as our Band of the Month.
