Perhaps no one can explain the sheer ferocity and timid quietness it is better than when vocalist Craig Owens says “we don’t want to let the kids down” when discussing the group’s intense vocals live at shows. Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Jurassic 5

Jurassic 5 are arguably the best hip-hop collective to emerge from the new rap underground of the late 90's, as their induction to the scene was supported by unanimous critical and
fan acclaim. The six men who effectively form Jurassic 5 have their finger on the hip-hop pulse and their inventive beats and rhymes hark back to the glory days of old-school flows.
In the nine years that they have been together, Jurassic 5 have made it a duty to blaze their own distinct path in a game convoluted by big egos and thug posturing. Touring with
such varied artists as Fiona Apple, punk rockers on the Vans Warped Tour, and a multitude of their inspiring peers in the underground, all the while seemingly doing everything right
as a rap group. On top of their achievements as a sextet, numerous members have also weighed in on individual releases and side projects such as Ozomatli. After appearing on various
albums that dropped early in 2002 (including the successful Linkin Park remix album and Blackalicious' critically lauded Black Arrow), Jurassic 5 have returned with their latest feat, Power in Numbers, which is yet another solid achievement and again proves Jurassic 5's dominance of the scene, The album features guest appearances from the likes of Nelly Furtado,
Big Daddy Kane and JuJu from the Beatnuts, as well as a limited edition DVD so fans can experience what it's like behind the scenes with one of the most respected hip-hop ensembles
currently around. Power in Numbers is sure to become a classic in every sense of the word.
