Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage's accessible metalcore sound has been impressing legions of die-hard fans for a couple years now, but with the group line-up, who could have expected any less? Vocalist Jesse Leach was the vocalist for Nothing Stays Gold and Corrin, drummer Adam Dutkiewitz and guitarist Joel Stroetzel were both members of Aftershock, and bassist Mike D'Antonio was the leader and principal songwriter for the underground legends Overcast. With such an array of metal enthusiasts assembled, the band emerged in 2000 with their self-titled Ferret debut. After playing hundreds of shows all along the East Coast and beyond, Killswitch Engage caught the ear of Roadrunner Records, and the end result is their sophomore feat, Alive or Just Breathing. Combining yet more melody with some of the most sinister metal to grace the hardcore scene in years, the new album reflects a band serious about their craft, and provides an inspiring sense of hope in these dreary times. One thing is for sure, Killswitch Engage are ready to turn the nu-metal scene on it's ear with their aggressive, decidedly non-mainstream sound. The band can currently be found touring the US alongside Soilwork, Hypocrisy and Scar Culture.
