Smother Magazine Band Spotlight: Adema

Adema are one of the latest emerging artists to find themselves overshadowed by the influence of nu-metal masters Korn. While Adema may contain several ties with Korn, (frontman Mark Chavez happens to be Jonathan Davis' step-brother, Guitarist Tim Fluckey and Daug DeRoo played with Korn members in past groups as well as Juice, and drummer Kris Kohls used to be in Videodrone, a group once signed to Korn's own record label) they are surely not clones. If you see past the close Korn connections you will see a band that is bursting with fresh new sounds. With Adema's self-titled debut poised to blow up, these 5 musicians are ready to be heard, and with songs like Giving In and Do What You Want To Do, are sure to appeal to fans of alternative and nu-metal fans everywhere as a truly original band. Don't let comparisons fool you, Adema are no carbon-copy, they are the real deal.
