…you Anti-Slipknot people are just too much. I’m surprised you didn’t break out into the usual “how I came to hate their music” but just so happen to leave out the part where you once loved them. Then you buy some random metal bands CD at Best Buy, suddenly see the subculture of metal, and don’t like them anymore.
People like you have no real reason as to why you don’t like their music, you just fall back on homophobic remarks, “you like Slipknot, you must be a faggot! *insert typical college stoner laugh here*
That’s okay, while you have your little blog here, they are known around the world, millions of fans and at least in that picture, were at the Grammy’s. That’s more than you will do in a life time.
When did I make any homophobic remarks? Who is stereotyping who now? Have you read this magazine before? If so you’d notice that we actually lean quite heavily towards the heavier side of music. The fact that a bunch of mask-wearing nu-metal guys who show little maturation in their sound since their first days were even nominated for a Grammy shows just how loony the Grammy process is. I’d like to see a band that’s remarkable get those notes, not some sub-par Hot Topic outfit.
Also I’m confident enough in my career and life that I do not need to get an award in which I have no respect for to feel as if I’ve accomplished something in my life.

Yeah I once loved them when I was 12? then I matured. Slipknot is for kids pretty much. Take songs like “If you’re 555, then I’m 666!” that just makes me laugh now. Im not embarissed, tons of people like me grew up on them, its just that when 30 year olds still listen to them, its pretty sad. So if you are 12 then fine.
And I didnt remember him putting any homophobic remarks? there is people that will make homophobic remarks about everything. I’m quite sure that a taste in music is equivalent to finding someone attractive. It’s all in the eye of the beholder and I fail to see where you have pointed out legitimately why Slipknot sucks? Unless they can’t play their instruments or can’t keep time, I am sure this is a matter of opinion. Nor am I popping zits in my mom’s bathroom or taking the bus to school. It is narrow minded people like yourself who would actually believe this. And just to point out, I am a 23 year old female with spectacular hygiene.
This is a music review site, it’s wholly relevant to say someone ‘sucks’ regardless of whether they can “play” their instrument. Their sound is tired, dated, and unimaginative. Your right about taste in music, but again, this IS an opinion based site, hence an opinion. But I think the comment flame is pretty darn hilarious so keep trying, please.
look, J-Sin…you say their music hasn’t evolved at all? do you even listen to any of it other than what few songs receive airplay? Vermilion (parts 1 and 2) from Vol. 3 showed a TON of growth and evolution for the band musically (though too much radio play made me sick of the song), and the song Snuff from All Hope Is Gone shows just how diverse the band can be musically. and to Tom…the song is called The Heretic Anthem. the lyrics you quoted were part of the verse and chorus of the song. and it’s referring to Hollywood (area code 555). and while i agree with the argument of popularity not equaling quality (rap, scene, emo, “pop” music, and “boy bands” are all shitty, hollow music just made for money and fame) if you take a moment to look at their songs and think about it from a few angles, it’s all very well written and they are all extremely talented. all 9 of them.
hopefully this annoying little “anti-slipknot” thing will wear down. a kid once said “it’s 2009 and nobody gives a shit about slipknot” and shortly afterward, AHIG debuted at #1…
and to make a point about the “zit-popping 12-year-old” theory…a friend of mine is a smoking-hot 20-year old woman who loves Slipknot.
now, please. let’s lay this issue to rest with one final comment. i saw this band Converge playing at a show. their singer proved there is a talent to screaming. he had none. it sounded like shit being forced through the mic at high speed. fight those people. not talented ones.

I was once on Slipknot’s street team before they were signed. I still have a copy of “Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.” somewhere. And yes I have heard all of their material since their inception, before bandwagoners jumped on them because they saw their pics on MySpace or in lame metal magazines. And no they have not progressed or evolved. They still write the same songs over and over again with small bells and whistles here or there.
I didn’t know there was an “anti-slipknot” thing. I posted this a while ago in regards to how ridiculous it was that they would be nominated for a Grammy, showcasing how utterly lame and irrelevant the Grammys are.
People that need to make themselves feel better by saying that a “smoking hot 20-year old” likes a band just shows that they are not a 20-year old and are just well silly. That’s not an argument and you missed the point.
This is not an issue to put to rest. Again this is an opinion-based music review site that I’ve had running for well over 13 years now (since many of you fanboys were still in diapers).
To talk about Converge and say that Jacob Bannon has no talent shows how unbelievably naive you are. He’s a talent Renaissance man whose art transcends just music and ‘screaming’.

wow……interesting,still…slipknot rules!sure some of their songs are…..but they get crazy and that’s all that really maters….as long as they kick ass them there is no problem with any band that ” says the same thing over and over again.” i see everyone has interesting points……slipknot has made it a long way though…
